Who this policy covers

This policy describes the website Maps, Traffic and Driving Directions at mapsdirections-driving.com. For questions about this policy or information you have shared with us, email info@mapsdirections-driving.com. It does not replace the privacy policies of mapping providers, your email service, or websites you visit through external links.

Map searches and location

When you search for an address, the search text is sent through our server to Photon to find matching places. When you request driving directions, the selected coordinates are sent through our server to OSRM to calculate a route. The server briefly caches provider results to reduce repeat requests. This cache is not a personal route-history account.

Map tiles are loaded by your browser from OpenStreetMap. Requests for these tiles reveal your IP address and the map areas being loaded to that provider. If you choose the location button, your browser asks for permission before sharing your location with the page. You can decline or revoke that permission in your browser settings and enter locations manually instead. Selected coordinates may then be used for address search or routing.

The current website does not offer user accounts or save a personal journey history. Your internet connection, device, hosting infrastructure and third-party services may still generate technical records such as IP addresses, request times, browser information and errors. Do not use the absence of an account as a promise of anonymous browsing.

Contact messages

The contact form prepares a message in your own email application. Form fields are processed in your browser; the form does not submit them to a website inbox or contact database. You must review and send the email yourself. If you send it, your email provider and our receiving email service process the message, including your address and any information or attachments you include.

We use received messages to answer questions, investigate corrections, address privacy or copyright requests, and maintain relevant correspondence. Keep sensitive information out of a message unless it is necessary for your request. A prepared email draft is also subject to the settings and privacy practices of your email application.

Fonts, browser storage and advertising

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which involves requests from your browser to Google’s services. Browsers can cache fonts, images and map tiles. The current site code does not set advertising or analytics cookies and does not include an analytics tracker or an advertising script. A published ads.txt record is an advertising authorization record; it does not itself display advertisements or set cookies.

Third-party services may process request information under their own policies. If advertising, analytics or other tracking is introduced, this policy and any required privacy controls must be updated to reflect that change. Your browser offers controls for cookies, cached resources and site permissions.

Use, disclosure and retention

Information is processed to provide the tools, maintain the website, respond to correspondence and address misuse or legal obligations. Mapping requests go to the providers described above, while infrastructure and email providers process information needed to operate their services. Information may also be disclosed where required by applicable law or necessary to investigate a security issue.

Received correspondence is retained for as long as reasonably needed to handle the request, keep a relevant record or meet a legal obligation. Technical logs and provider records follow the settings and retention practices of the services that hold them. We do not promise a single retention period for every type of information. Providers may process data in countries different from your own. No internet transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and requests

You can use manually entered locations, withhold optional location access, and choose not to send a contact email. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict use of personal information. Send requests to info@mapsdirections-driving.com, describing what information or interaction is involved. We may need to confirm your identity before disclosing or changing personal information, and some information may need to be retained by law.

The website is intended for general trip-planning information and does not invite children to submit personal information. If you believe a child has sent personal information that should be removed, contact us. We may revise this policy as the site changes; the updated date identifies the latest version.
